Solid rails and felt boaty at first. Ended up loving it though once I wore it in. First board that I’ve ever felt the flat spot properly under the front foot and it’s impacts. Wanted to spin after floaters when landing which made it fun. Backhand felt sharp off the top and could pivot easily in small stuff. Could feel flex in the nose (up) which eventually led to a snap but no fault implied besides hard use. Would buy another just not do black again

Since riding my first one up at HPC, I am totally in love with this board. Great comp board for high performance with good volume for reasonable paddling, Love riding this board!

I have had this board for about a year now, it was a jack shaped board and I am in love with it! Recently snapped the nose... but I found it to be a pretty solid file. It’s a super fun board in anything under 5ft, so on the Sunshine Coast, pretty much perfect! It is a high performance board, however still is very forgiving, making for an epic session each day!

I loved this board in 3-7ft waves. Very fast down the line and gave in to sharp turns. Didn't feel too stable in weaker in waves.

I really enjoyed this board. It's a great high performance shortboard for waist high to a little overhead in a wide range of conditions. I found this board goes well in both hollow waves (up to a little overhead) and smaller average waves (as long as there is a bit of punch behind them). If the waves are really fat or really weak the board won't really come to life as this model was designed to be surfed in decent to pumping conditions. The board performed well in beach breaks and point breaks and has mainly been surfed at Uluwatu, Duranbah and all Gold Coast point breaks and performed well in all those waves. Overall it's a more user friendly performance shortboard that's pretty forgiving and will really allow you to lay into some turns. My favourite fin setup for this board was the Futures R6 template but the JJF and Jordy Smith templates also work well!

This board is fast. As soon as I rode this for the first time, it was different and I’ve never felt like that before. I thought this works only in good conditions, but actually it’s been working pretty good in any conditions so far. I love this board and it's improved my skills a lot. Definitely recommend for intermediate surfers who are willing to improve and get speed.

Absolute knife when the swell is overhead, great for punchy beaches and solid reef breaks. As a pretty light bloke have struggled with manoeuvrability with a lot of boards (probably buying them a bit thick and narrow for what I needed). The DX-1 was the first board I got that allowed me to really snap at sections on a chasey wave that didn’t allow for more drawn out carves. Does struggle a bit when the waves have a flatter face, but when the beaches im used to surfing amp up a bit, it’s my go to board. Really allowed me to stick to the face more when the waves got vertical. Downsides: it’s not nearly as forgiving as the boards I usually ride - although the tail rocker doesn’t seem huge, makes a big difference if you’re on a more lumpy wave with multiple swell directions - have to really control my reflex to shift my foot to the tail pad Too early before setting up a big turn. Your speed is hugely depend on your distribution of weight, and can ruin a perfect wave for ya if you’re not tuned into it. Upsides: incredible manouverability, sits in the steeper wave faces like where’s Wally at a hipster cafe, is durable as all hell and never skids out no matter how hard you spin the bastard. Verdict: incredibley versatile board when the waves start pumping, never been outgunned on this slick stick. If James Bond surfed (thank fuck he doesn’t, but anyways) this is the board he’d be taking out, the saucy minx. Nich

Bit chunkier than I'd expected through the nose and rails. In good bigger rolling surf it gets a little stuck and lacks drive, my normal shortboard would be 5.10 and I ride this at 5.9. So maybe that's due to it being a touch shorter than id usually ride in good waves. That said, in punchy beach breaks it absolutely flies. Super responsive, lively and very fast. Definitely my go to beach break board or for anything up to just over head high:

My DHD DX1 is a very good board especially in sucky hollow wave it does not dig rails and very fast and responsive and holds its line through the barrel. its extra strong glassing feels unbreakable which give me confidence in surfing solid waves. all in all a very good board.

I took this board away on a trip through Central America with me and only ended up riding it a few times. I usually ride a bit flatter and stubbier board and so in the softer beach breaks I felt a lot more comfortable on my usual boards. However, on a bigger wave with a bit more face to work with this was really fun. I ordered this with a round tail and it felt really good off the bottom and would go on rail really easily. It had enough foam under the chest that it would paddle real well but not so much that it felt too foamy. I liked this board in good waves but for smaller fatter beachies I'd farther ride something stubbier.
