Don’t be fooled by the unorthodox look of this board, they perform. When I first saw the outline, I must say I was slightly apprehensive but after my first few waves, I knew this board was a keeper. The thickness is kept in the rails so it’s stable and glides through fats section with ease but still allows you to bury the rail when needed. What I loved most is the hip in the tail. The foam up the front generates speed but combined with the comparatively narrow tail, allows you to hold in more effectively during your turns, so you can go a lot harder off the top, which has always been a downside for me when using slightly thicker, shorter step down boards. It would be remiss of me not to mention the construction. In terms of epoxy surfboards, the hayden shapes future flex epoxy is up there as one of the most durable and responsive epoxy boards on the market. Having ridden epoxy exclusively for the past 5 years or so, the only other one that’s come close in strength and flexibility is the JS hyfi. For a great small wave all rounder that you don’t have to nurse through turns, the Holy Grail is your answer.

I picked this board up second hand and will definitely pick up another when its done. It's really made me enjoy riding the generally smaller waves where I live and surf. Good paddle power and unloads nicely off the fins out of the bottom turn, good for snaps and cutbacks. I'd like to try a longer version in some bigger waves and see if it gave me the same results. The future flex epoxy is tough and its lasting well. My go to board for everything until it reaches my lack of ability in the big stuff. I'd recommend it to anyone. The tapered tail out of the continuous rail curve really loosens it up. I love it.

The drive through take off and into your bottom turn is the first thing you really notice with the Holy Grail, with so much volume up front this board cuts through bigger and drivier conditions extremely well. The squashed tail allows more critical turns and snaps, whilst still retaining the original sentiment of the hypto krypto. The Future Flex makes this bird feel solid under foot, which sometimes prevents you from really digging into the pocket in smaller conditions. Overall, great mix of drive and manoeuvrability especially in 4-6ft conditions.

Hands down the best board I have owned and really helps smooth out your style and add fluidity between turns. You can do the tightest turns with good flow linking a series of good turns together on a wave from start to finish.

Really fast down the line board which loves going on rail and vertical the only thing I find is it doesn’t like releasing the tail which I personally don’t like but for guys who push really hard vertically they would enjoy the hold it has when pushing hard in decent waves.

My first board was a 6ft chilli Cherry Peppa. Heaps of volume, really hard board to stop using because of the paddle power.. eventually I finally moved onto the holy grail and it changed the way a surfed. Always loved pumping down the line because the chilli was so fast but stepping up to a more performance board really made a difference in how I progressed. I was able to drop in later, get into more hollow sections and begin properly surfing more up and down instead of straight. Would highly recommend!
