The Pyzel Phantom is a versatile board. It rides incredible in smaller conditions. I did manage to dial the board using large Hayden Shape fins and adjusting my take off for larger, more powerful surf for example 2.5-3m Margaret River. I'd highly recommend this board for someone transitioning into shortboards or someone that doesn't have the money to buy multiple boards with average waves Overall, I really enjoy the board

I purchased my first Phantom (rounded square ) after riding AM Sampler models, board felt dependable right away, but sweet spot riding it took around 2 weeks, getting used to new rails and wide point forward. After this learning curve found I could push board as hard as I wanted and it would respond in kind, The board paddles extremely well with the wide point forward, allowing easy entry, and confidence with late takeoffs. I have to say these are the best feeling rails I’ve ever had on a board, and will hold in well over head height and more. I had fcs in my board and matched the board with John Pyzel medium FCS fins. I rode this board for 18months have re-purchased another one in 5’10 stock dims and loving it just as much. I will be ordering a 5’11 again soon in rounded pin version as a step up, also have a 6’1 ghost in the quiver. Have to give a huge thumbs up, first board was surfed hard for 18 months and still looks fresh and has held up really well, I’ve put less experienced mates onto the phantom and it’s smoothed out there surfing and has given them confidence to push harder. Gotta give @John Pyzel 2 thumbs up

Awesome board, glad I didn't go any smaller as the volume would have been a little lacking for the smaller or weaker waves but in these dimensions is great. Riding with futures blacksticks large fins, board is mint. Great control and response on the wave and rides with a bit of spark. Certainly a perfect fit between the gremlin and the ghost.

The board has lots of speed and drive. Lets you lay into some awesome turns once you stomp on the back foot. Have surfed it in 1ft beachy slop all the way to good 6ft waves. The only downside with this board is it doesnt like punchy waves, took it to Komune Bali in Keramas and the board was horrible. Ive taken many boards there over the years and this board definately doesnt like a punchy fast face. Apart from that the board has been absolutely amazing and a favourite in almost all Victorian surf spots.

Pyzel makes amazing surfboards, and the Phantom is no exception. For everyday 2-6ft waves this board performs like a dream. It is thick and buoyant enough to have suffcient paddle power and stability. And once your up and riding it has a great capacity for shredding! I highly recommend this board for anyone and everyone!

This board definitely loves the more powerful surf than the average sloppy beach conditions. Once the waves get around head high the board really comes to life. It's not a bad all rounder but does get a little bogged down in the mushy conditions and hard to connect turns. Overall super fun to ride but now only use it when the waves turn on.

Great daily driver for waves from waist to overhead. Wide point forward to really easy paddling. Rails are a forgiving. Got mine as a squash tail but round tail is available too which is what I'd go with next time. Also went too big with mine and would thin it down a lot for the next one. Also check out the Pyzalien 2 which apparently has a bit more range and a more foiled out range.

I prefer this board when the waves get around head high with a bit of push. Then it is a fun, turny board suitable for most wave types. When the waves are smaller it sticks a bit.....but that's probably because I am old and heavy. Was great in the Mentawais.
