Hi Carl,

There are lots of mixed views on this subject. We recommend the same volume for both PU and Epoxy boards. Rather than changing your Volume between Epoxy and PU boards it’s more important to focus on the response and flex of the board construction with carbon placement, glassing etc. These factors greatly affect the performance, not primarily the volume. Once these boards (PU & Epoxy) are up and planing the lighter board (eg. carbon wrap EPS) might have more response, but in terms of buoyancy, they’re generally the same. PU boards can often feel less buoyant because they’re actually heavier so when you duck dive it can be easier to push under water.

In the end an Epoxy board will feel more buoyant, but remember it’s lighter which is good. Having a little extra volume with a lighter board is great with speed, paddle power etc. Hope this helps and we haven’t confused you further.

Cheers

Hi. Just tried my Crumpet 5"10 this afternoon. little wave n Maroubra, easy going.
Board has really good paddle, easily catches wave. Stability is here too.
Very light feeling under the feet.V responsive. Can't wait to try it in bigger waves! I definitely recomend.
