Pyzel Surfboards

The Slab

Manufactured in Australia
Manufacturing Time:
~ 5 Weeks
The Purpose:

The Slab by Pyzel is John John Florence's ideas refined into his perfect free surfing model. John John wanted 3 inches off the nose of the JP-X and an increased tail rocker. This resulted in a fuller nose, fatter top section and an extremely high performance fun board that goes well in a range of conditions.

Pyzel Surfboards - Pyzel Surfboards

Note: Ride approximately 2" to 3" shorter and 1/4" to 1/2" wider and same thickness as Your go to traditional short board. Also check out the updated Slab 2.0 model. FREE Carbon tail included upon request in comments section on chekout page.

Lower Nose Rocker, Extra Tail Rocker.

Best For:

The lower nose rocker gives the Pyzel Slab heaps of speed early in the take off and when driving down the line. An easy nose rocker and extra tail rocker makes the board speedy but provides the ability to easily release it in the pocket for high performance surfing. If you're having trouble landing airs, the wider nose and fat outline make it super stable for landing those massive punts. Also check out the updated Slab 2.0 model.

This board is a perfect option for good surfers wanting a smaller board option for slab type beachies and reefs up to 6ft, but also who want a board that is still responsive enough that you can change your line easily in the barrel and still release the fins and do big punts! I ordered the slab 2inches shorter, 1/2 inch wider and same thickness as my go to shortboard. However, next time I won't order it wider as it's fuller nose and fuller rails overall give plenty of paddle speed and buoyancy over flat sections of the wave. But if you are an average surfer than definitely go the extra 1/4 or 1/2inch width as Jon Pyzel suggests. I got a round tail and it holds in sick in slabby barrels and it punts good too, more stable for landing airs than my Pyzel Grunt model. Sick board !

This is a great performance board of excellent quality. I did a lot of research before I picked this board and dimensions and I must say that I am really happy. It simply delivers. A really quick board which can drive even out of white wash to the open face. Great for late takeoffs and slabby beachies.
