Excellent paddler, great drive and speed, holds a high critical line thru hollow sections , and bottom turns are solid and reliable..
It a a big board that can be surfed with a short board style in solid waves.
I haven’t used it in smaller weak waves . But I think it could still be fun .
I’ve now bought three Padillacs , a 6’10, 7’4”, and 8’0”

I have been riding Dylan Longbottom’s boards for about 10 years now and love them.
He shapes board for some of the best surfers in the world, but still has the time to talk to his local lads from Wollongong. The big Gun is a favourite of mine, especially when the swell is pumping, it has a lot of drive of the bottom and a huge amount of paddle power I would recommend the big gun to all that love surfing big waves.
Cheers Luke

A really fun performance board for lower/medium scale waves. Manoeuvrable, picks up good speed and can make it over flat sections with ease. For a small wave board it doesn’t love to grovel, but really thrives in the 3-5ft range. I found that when using flexy fins, the board tended to skip or slide out a fair bit but this was easily fixed with a stiffer set of fins.
Overall a solid board that goes great as a daily driver shortboard.

perfect companion for everyday conditions but will hold up when the waves are dumping and the conditions are sub par. This model is versatile and being from perth, Australia it is a perfect board for the variety of waves.

Super fun board! I got this as a board to keep me grinning in small summer slop...but I’m also poor and this is the first brand new board I’ve ever owned. I went for this one to get a bit of bang for my thousand bucks but also fill that small wave box. It is a great board. Really fast, glides around sections and you can turn like fighter pilot or throw it around as promised. I got some twin keels to go with it as well as the quads- I’m yet to try out but told they work well too, and give it a couple more dimensions for smaller days too. The paddle is good, and I love the length. I am a hungry and lazy beaver though so I’d be tempted to get more foam and cop another inch if I had my time again...but seriously, can’t complain.

This is just the perfect board for me! I was looking for a board to replace my beginner softboard and started to try the ones in the surf school. They all looked so "violent"!! With sharp and pointed noses and so narrow. I could'n stop thinking about my wipeouts with those boards, it just terrified me. Then I rented an Hydroshort and it was dreamy! Is the most smooth ride I've done yet she goes fast and my spot has some rough waves. So easy to paddle! She enters the waves and lets you know you are save and in charge. I didn't even know I was able to surf that level! Never thoutght that I knew how to manouver a surfboard. The Hydroshort is like my soulmate.
