Bought this to make the most of very average Darwin cyclone swells. Have surfed in 2-4ft solid clean waves in Indo, was so much fun. Pretty skatey when surf got over head. Surfed in wind slop on Darwin and found it a bit tricky, definitely prefers the cleaner open face, like any fishy board I have ridden I suppose. Just had a normal quad medium sized fin in them. Now have a set of lost seaworthy fins so be interesting to see how it goes now. I thought around 34L was going to be plenty (it is for me when surfing) but board sits a bit low when paddling so suggest if you’re around my size head more toward 36 L or up.

This is a great step up board I put the large JJF fins in and and in 4 ft and up it is manoeuvrable responsive in big waves glass job in the big boy boy glass is good very little deck depressions.

My favourite daily driver, specially when the waves are a bit better. Plenty of foam for decent paddle power, while keeping the beautiful curvy performance outline.
Love the quality of the HYFI on this board, very durable and helps when conditions are poor (even though this is not my absolute favorite board for those conditions).
Would get it again, maybe in PU to sink the rail a bit better in good powerful waves.

Well I've just ridden this the one time being out an average 2-3 ft beachbreak and was not expecting to be able to feel a difference to my usual type of board but i have to say I felt a major difference straight up.
I felt as though the Hypto just paddled really well and the instant hold and glide from take off was obvious. See I usually ride wide tail boards that tend to slide a little and I also have my back foot further up the board (kook) and thought a narrower rounded pin would help me gain speed and I think it works. Early days I know and I must say on my forehand it felt unreal backhand however felt "sticky" but this is a thruster so that maybe why. Might try it with a smaller centre fin and see what it does.

Great board for small to head high surf. When running as a quad setup this board has a lot of speed which means making sections on low power point breaks are a breeze.

My first JS and now my go to every day board. Have used it in waist high chop to overhead in indo. Good volume under the chest for easy paddle and early entry, just enough rocker for steeper waves and fast through the sections. Super durable too. Great option for the intermediate surfer looking for the one board to cover most waves.
