Overall the quality was immaculate, and I think the movability is definitely the strongest point of the board. It makes it extremely easy to use even for a beginner. The paddle power is what I would rate next highest followed by the drive which feels incredibly natural and not at all forced. Finally the stability is what I would rate as perhaps the weak point which is to say not bad at all. However, the stability may also be due to my own beginner level and inexperience with the sport. Over all it’s incredible and I loved it.

Hi, I first bought this board a few months back and gave a seething review on it. I was having all sorts of problem with rail dig. I had some Large FCS 2 Super Fins which I started with both quad and thruster(L).I could not get it to go so I bought a set of Bilos more upright fins tried in good conditions both quad and thruster)L) and still could not work this thing out. I was about to send it back and just say keep it, I don't want it. I held off my hasty irrational thought and next time in the water, good beachies again, I chucked in my old Gorilla FCS 2 fins (m) Guess what - The Ripper went off. I surfed until my arms dropped off and could not wipe the smile off my face. Sorry Mayhem for my initial review, it just goes to show that fin choice can really make that much difference. I am stoked to have a friend in the shed that I look at through different eyes now. Regards Liam Sidney

It's easy to inflate any model to larger dims, but another thing altogether, for it to remain nimble, responsive and forgiving. For me, this board does just that. Like so many of us, I've long since felt relegated to riding hybrids, or fishy, wide nose, lower rockered boards.Crowds, getting older, a little too much good living (along with a few too many extra lbs) as well as the fact that I never was a Pro, or a hot shot surfer, have combined to make it difficult to continue riding modern Pro-formance-shortboard designs. With the El Patron, I feel I can once again enjoy riding this type of board. El Patron allows me to confidently navigate a crowded lineup and surf at the best of my personal ability. El Patron is primarily based off of a couple higher volume (wider/thicker) quivers built for Kolohe Andino, where he demanded they "still carve and turn like a thinner board". Featuring a very conservative, low entry rocker and generous, accelerated tail rocker, but blended with a no concave nose area to the shallowest of a single concave, fading to a slight vee through the fins, and back to flat out the tail. This bottom contour allows effortless drive, and glide, while importantly negating the high volume, and lets the rail easily engage and roll into the water. Less concave/more volume. This is the 'magic' of El Patron. Other details include: - Heavily blended rails, that belie the overall thickness, and feel really good in your hands, and in the water - Thin, boxy rails from the fins back through the tail, allowing control and feeling loose - Forward thickness flow, for drive and extreme paddle-ability

I found the Libtech version better as it has a pulled in tail and less tail volume and virtually indestructible. When its snmall I ride it with two large side fins and a nubster, heaps of fun. Have ridden it at twice over head 5 Fins handled awesome very responsive for a groveller. Be my favorite board from the first wave.

First new board after a 10 year break from surfing. Opted for the extra thickness (34L rather than 32L) to assist with paddle power. Huge improvement from my old short board (which was thinner and narrower, but same length).

Upgraded my QuiverKiller 6'4" which is another quality board and found the sweet spot immediately. Lost make such reliable, high quality finish boards. The epoxy and cork treatment had me a bit worried BUT its as smooth and lively as anything. Much more durable. Ill be keeping this one for a long time. Paddles great and duckdives well (important for old blokes). Overhead Yorkes no worries, mushy 2 foot slop still fun, the extra 2 inches really makes the board accelerate down the line and the round tail turns smooth. A cracker!

As I get older I needed some more volume but didn't want to lose maneuverability. Hit the nail on the head with this bad boy. Paddles excellently. It's a very forgiving board. If your feet are a bit out of position it almost says "i'll hang in, you get comfortable" I ride as a tri and it still has good drive but can be a slose as you want it.
