The Red Tiger XL by Pyzel is exactly the same as the Red Tiger, with stock dimensions to suit bigger and stockier surfers (or for novice surfers looking to downsize to a smaller board).

Unlike anything the brand have ever launched, this board is silky smooth even in garbage waves and may be their quickest board to date. Based on John's straightforward instruction to "make it fast and fun," it is the ultimate performance machine for medium-sized, slower, weaker waves.

With an outline that is slightly wider than a traditional high performance short board, the wide point on the Red Tiger sits an inch behind the centre, with the emphasis on surfing it more to the mid to back half of the board. It has a wider block squash tail that provides drive and lift, and aids in the creation of a "pop" while going into the air. The contour is broken by a significant hip at the front fins, which also serves as a pivot point for tighter radius turns and lip release.

This board is their flattest high performance shortboard so far, with the rocker translating to consistent speed even in small, weak waves. It runs a single to double concave through the front two thirds, into a double concave deep vee combination through the fins and tail. This keeps it easy to roll rail to rail and the tail's vee makes it possible to easily surf vertically and carve short arcs even in small, pockety waves.

It's recommended to ride this board around an inch shorter than your usual high performance shortboard and a bit wider. The volume should be close, but you can go up .5 to 1L to help you more in weaker waves.
