Previously owned a Rare Bird (awesome board) and bought this as a groveller. It is, but its not. Now usually ride a Monstabox and was a bit sceptical about getting this board. I shouldn't have been as its a winner...have ridden it in good glassy waves up to 4ft and it was epic....first eps type foam board I have liked....so much fun its now become my go-to board except for bigger days when I swing back to the MB...love it

Had a custom made with lower volume....simply an epic awesome all round do anything pretty much board. Fast off the mark and solid underfoot....absolutely love this board. Promoted as a smaller wave board (which it is very good at) but have ridden in some solid Bukit waves and it was epic....probably my favourite all round board ever (after 20+ boards)

Had a custom (lower volume) MB made up as a 'step-up' but also everyday board .. love it great allrounder and works well in smaller waves as well. Struggles a little in weaker waves but in any wave of quality its a winner....almost a one board quiver

This board is incredible!
I bought this one after some online research looking for a good groveller but also high performance.
First wave on the board was spot on. The board just flys over the flats but also turns on a dime due to less area in the tail. The extra width up front enables you to generate a tonne of speed and then once you want to lay it on rail it really takes off and holds in. It seem a like there’s quite a straight rail line for a small board which makes it ride like a small fish but you can draw out your turns on rail.
The eps gives it a super lively feel and extra float which I like for the east coast beachies. I feel like it will go real well also on the points up to around 4ft and really excell in 2-3ft beach break rip bowls.
Best board I’ve had in a long time, DHD has really dialed in this board for fun and performance. Good work

Great board, paddles well though it took a couple of surfs to find that sweet spot. Once on a wave it has plenty of down the line speed. Place your back foot just behind the fins and it will turn with ease. This board doesn’t have that loose feeling like twin fins of old, even with the wider tail there is plenty of bite drive and hold. Maybe that torus channel synonymous with Gary’s designs really does have merits. I have a range of boards from 5’9 and up from various shapers but this has become my new everyday ride. I also purchased a set of Gary’s upright twins and they are an excellent product that have been working very well with this board as you would expect. Gary was great to deal with and delivered an excellent product that will keep me surfing for many years to come.

Best board I’ve ever owned. Had a hypto before this and I can’t speak highly enough of the Phoenix surfed it in 1 foot slop up to 4 foot and never had any dramas catching waves. Very stable, heaps of foam for paddle power and very drivey. Love it. Everyone should have one in their quiver

This is a great board and my go-to for when there’s some decent swell. It’s a great all rounder for a performance orientated board and gives me great assurance whenever I ride it from 2ft to 6ft+.

Stable board, reasonably good paddler, turns really nice and holds on the face doesn't skip out on you,
generates speed reasonably well. I've found it surfs most conditions well but it's not a groveller need's a bit of push. Only issue is the fin boxes, fin's don't seem to click in nicely compared to my other boards.
