Sex Wax got its start in the 1970’s when Nate Skinner, a chemist, and Frederick Charles Herzog III ("Zog"), a small surf shop owner, decided to develop a unique, high-performance surfboard wax. Nate experimented with several various wax prototypes with Zog testing these waxes under actual surfing conditions until they came up with today’s formula.
Relatively unknown, the pair came up with a catchy name and called their product ‘Sex Wax.’ The name had its share of detractors and fans, but it got people talking about it and more importantly buying and testing the product.
Word quickly got out and praise for the new wax spread. Demand for Sex Wax steadily increased with more surf shops requesting the product including those who initially declined. Five decades on, Sex Wax continuous to be one of the most sought for surfboard waxes in the market.
