The iconic Rusty Surfboards is known around the world as one of the great authorities in surfing. Believing in surfboards that feel alive, quality shaping and the continuing advancement of the sport of surfing. The Rusty Surfboard brand has always been seen as one of the most influential surf brands. The brand boasts long established ties to Australia as far back as a trip by founder Rusty Preisendorfer in the mid 70's which included meeting with and shaping boards for legends Peter Townend and Rabbit Bartholomew. This Australian connection continued with boards being shaped for Mark Occhilupo and now team rider Josh Kerr. The iconic surf brand has been at the forefront of design, durability and surfboard evolution for decades. With head shaper Aido Wheeler at the helm in Australia, Rusty Surfboards keep going from strength to strength.

Whether you're looking for a high performance comp model like Josh Kerr's Yes Thanks; a free-surfing inspired performance board like the Sista Brotha; or a high performance groveler like the Grim Ripper - there is a Rusty Surfboard for you. Other small wave performers include the Magic Door and it's round tailed and diamond tailed brothers the Magic Thumb and the Neil 5 Fin. For a performance board with a little more volume the Kerrosover has more volume under your chest while the shorter, Slayer model gives you more width in the nose. A few of the fun board models in the series include the Happy Shovel, the T-Dwart, the Rooster and the Black Diamond. For days when you really want to step it up on bigger waves make sure you give the Blackbird and the Traveler a go.

I have a 6'6" Slayer, I was replacing the tail pad and after a good clean I've noticed fractures on the deck around the FCS fin inserts, Why ? Also the deck is peppered with compression dings, Why. The board is only a couple of years old.

Boardcave February 8, 2016 at 4:38 pm

Hey Paul…that happens…a lot. And really common on shortboards as their glassing is a little lighter. The cracks near the fin plugs are because it is a soft medium (foam) near a hard medium (plastic plugs)…the compressed dents everywhere else are from your feet. It'll happen to pretty much everyboard especially those that are a couple of years old +.

Hey guys where is the rusty muffin top looks pretty cool

Boardcave Australia March 29, 2016 at 2:01 am

Hi Carl, The muffin top is an older model that has been discontinued from the range. One of the other models to check out would be the Happy Shovel which has a similar outline and will also be great for those smaller days ~ http://www.boardcave.com.au/surf-brand/rusty-surfboards/hybrid-concept/happy-shovel/

Board is super fast and extremely responsive. Venturi bottom contours make this board extremely fun. Best board I've ridden in a long time!
