Chico like to knowing whass the deal with that tail mans?

Boardcave Australia March 17, 2015 at 6:21 am

Hi Chico. The tail on the Captain Kirk is going to perform similar to your standard swallow tail. The swallow tail inspired shape combined with the pulled in outline is going to provide great manoeuvrability through turns.

Chico asking mans is this board a standard small waves thrusters mans… or is it different mans?

Boardcave Australia April 8, 2015 at 4:02 am

Hi Chico. The Captain Kirk goes great in small to medium size waves. This board can be ridden as either a thruster or a quad and will be plenty of fun in those smaller average conditions.

Does this one of the Gary McNeil Concepts boards to work as a twin fin as well as a thruster mans?

Boardcave Australia July 1, 2015 at 6:58 am

Hi Chico. It wouldn't work that well as a twin fin. The Captain Kirk model has been designed to be ridden as either a thruster or quad and works best when ridden in either of those 2 fin setups.

Boardcave Australia When can Chico use a same thruster board as 2+1 or twinfin mans?

Boardcave Australia July 2, 2015 at 2:05 am

2 + 1 and twin fin setups are generally used in smaller fun and playful conditions. A thruster set up is more responsive and will allow the board to perform better if it's a performance shortboard style model.

Chico juss one more questions mans. Do order this one in performance dims or grovel dims mans?

Boardcave Australia July 3, 2015 at 5:04 am

If you're going to be surfing in mostly smaller conditions I would go for the grovel dimensions and if you're going to be riding the board in bigger, better waves I would go for the performance dimensions. If you email service@boardcave.com.au and let us know your age, weight, height and surfing ability the guys will be able to recommend the best size captain kirk model suited for you.

Gary McNeil does all customs so when the board arrived it wasn't exactly what I imagined, but I knew to trust the master as I have another board from him, so I just started using it without a second thought. I have the thruster version and have been blown away at how amazing it is in the average beachbreak conditions I got it for. It is really fast and turns with precision in critical situations. At certain points in the ride it feels like the board kicks into a higher gear and I have been flying over sections that I'd usually end the wave on. One thing to note is the board doesn't seem to like tiny fat waves - I really have to nurse it through turns and be measured with my pumping to eek out a ride - still an enjoyable experience though. I have not reached the limit of how big it can handle I've had it out in waves well overhead and was totally in control. A couple of times I have been able to just turn the board onto a wave while I'm paddling back out and take off without even a paddle just push the nose down the wave and away you go. This board really filled the hole I had in my quiver and exceeded my expectations in the beachbreaks I ride it in.
