I bought this board as my first short board progressing from a foamy, there is plenty of foam underneath the chest to help in with that paddle power, not too aggressive rails or concave which makes it quite a smooth board to ride and turn, progressively as I got better this board was too big and heavy for me then I downsized to a different board and smaller volume, the glassing is quite light which resulted in a few cracks from pressure dings but otherwise still water tight

Worth every cent!!! I’m able to push as hard as possible to draw out turns as much as possible, very forgiving and generates plenty of speed when in the pocket. Absolutely loving it. Highly recommend for people who want to excel in those conditions when it’s well overhead and want a firm grip to the surface of the wave.

Great Board but takes a bit of getting used to. I didn’t mesh with this board for a while, it doesn’t really surf like a shortboard, but is more agile than a step up and paddles almost like a fish. If you want to love this board you will eventually, but if you want a board that will feel familiar off the rack then this may not be for you. It handles late drops comfortably and never skips out during turns. If I ordered again I would probably go an inch longer but same length and width for a fraction more foam to offset the heavier glass job and help with paddling.

Great semi step up. I don't surf huge waves but it get's powerful in WA. Anything chest to double overhead it gets you in early and feels gunny. it almost surfs more like a snowboard in that you surf it off the rails more and it just turns for you then you jam your foot on the tail at the end of your turn so it takes some getting used to. Great board, you just have to think more about where your putting your weight else you kook it a bit more...

This is my go to board when I wanna surf bigger and steeper waves. I get launched into them easy with its easy paddling capability. The shape can handle steep drops and the outline is great for turns and cuts closer to a pro model than a fun shape but with both advantages.

I bought this as a board that would be easier to paddle as I'm getting older. It works exceptionally well in waves over 2 feet but struggles (like most short boards) in mush under 2 feet. When the surf picks up is comes into its own. Stable and still loose. Great board for smaller waves.

This DHD 3DX is the perfect progression board for anyone looking to get on their first shortboard or rip around on the smaller days. Dhd has nailed it. The 3DX really does take all the hard work out of paddling and catching waves and really allows you to focus on getting your position and transition right. 10/10 would recommend

I’ve had a classic Malibu egg for six years and I continue to ride it regularly. I ride it with the Alkali widowmaker 2 + 1 fin setup. It’s a great board for down the line surfing and flowing S turns. I’ve surfed this board in conditions from waist high to overhead beach break. Peter’s boards are high quality, beautifully finished, and built to last. I encourage you to speak to Peter personally before ordering a board to dial in your dimensions.

Purchased this board as a step up for using here in Western Australia. Have only surfed the board a couple of times but in great waves in our NW and over at Rottnest Island. Initial impressions - the board has great paddling power and gets into waves really well as you'd expect (it's 3" think). Plenty of drive off the bottom, and good down the line speed. At 6"6" feels like a 6"8" or longer board and it is not as loose as I was expecting, but it's still early days. At 58 you can't expect to be surfing like JJF anyway, but nothing wrong with trying. Overall really please with the purchase and looking forward to continuing testing it out in our solid WA conditions.
