Mercedes Surfboard by GMAC

Garrett McNamara is no stranger to BIG WAVES, he recently teamed up with the engineers at Mercedes Benz to develop a performance tow surfboard. Each board is equipped with a tracking system to record Garrett's waves and his performance. Not a bad idea to get accurate results from the tow board to understand the speeds and statistics of big wave surfing. This type of technology could be useful for the big wave awards and could give some valid credit to the athletes involved. We are not sure if Mercedes has any interest in making surfboards but it's cool to see a performance orientated company like Mercedes Benz getting involved in the technical side of surfing.
