As Summer on the East Coast of Australia has come to an end, things are about to heat up again in Newcastle for the 2021 Rip Curl Pro event!
Locals of the area may not be too stoked to share their fairly under wraps surf hub with the world but should ultimately consider themselves lucky, as the crowd of spectators who usually come in hoards to get out and share waves with the pro's will be considerably less due to the travel ban brought on by the global pandemic.
With a bit of luck we’ll see a solid swell roll in and only a small few will have that locals knowledge that could give them an edge. Current poster boy for the event is Merewether local Ryan Callinan, Ryan's talent has not yet been displayed in full potential, now at his home break he is a top contender for the win!
